Isle de La Gonave
We are people of African origin, and have Taino descent, a “most gentle and peaceful Arawak tribe” (C. Columbus, letter to Queen Isabel, 14th, April 1493)

 The Association Amis des Enfants                  Christmas 2005 in La Gonave
Our Association's main aim is to ensure the survival, self-sufficiency and well-being of the 90,000 inhabitants on this island.

We rejoice when we can share our successes, though our task is full of primary problems:

Our power depends on diesel generators;
Our water is supplied by two well out of nine;
There are no asphalted roads nr sewerage;
Goods transport is prohibitive;
We have no hospital nor books;
Agriculture is dying.

Each of us must improvise being a mechanic, teacher, technician or farmer, according to the need.
