Cultivation project
Given the swamp area percentage (60%) and soil erosion, cultivations are confined to small lots on the hills and their produce is totally insufficient to satisfy the population requirements.
In March we will start salicornia cultivation, a salt water species of the mangrove family; it is edible, produces a vegetable oil, its dry roots are fit for animal fodder and it can produce a bio fuel. For these last three productions we would need as much information as possible. The cultivation per se does not seem to be exceedingly difficult. We hope to combine it to shrimp cultivation in the future as the two activities are reciprocally beneficial.
Whoever could forward us construction data and/or help a small reforestation program is more than welcome, keeping in mind that even rain water is here extremely scarce and precious.
